Jakarta - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa expressed his seriousness about continuing to close the gap in leaks in state revenues from tax and customs posts. One way is to dismiss officials whose performance is not optimal at the Directorate General of Taxes and the Directorate General of Customs and Excise. Tomorrow, Wednesday (28/1/2026), he admitted that he would start carrying out cleaning operations by laying off the officials.
This is serious, one of them will be ransacked tomorrow. "That should improve the way taxes and customs work, and what was leaked shouldn't happen again," said Purbaya in Jakarta, Tuesday (27/1/2026).

Purbaya said that in the clean-up operation, at least several customs officials at five ports would be furloughed, aka removed from their positions. He confirmed that he would replace the position of the furloughed official by another younger employee, so he would not take an official from an external DG Customs. "Some younger ones went up, some I swapped. But from the outside, you usually don't know that customs operations will take longer. But what is clear is that later I will just send some of these officials to messages that we are serious this year. "So we will replace all the officials at the five major ports," said Purbaya.
